CONSTITUENCY ASSISTANT – CASEWORK/OUTREACH Permanent - Full-time, Peggy Sattler MPP – London West


Objectives:  To assist the Member by completing assigned casework and outreach duties.

Responsible to Member for:

  • Dealing with enquiries, solving problems and advocating for constituents (case work).   Contacting and responding to constituents by telephone, writing, and in person.  Contacting  senior government personnel, officials from outside organizations, and local government on behalf of constituents.
  • Preparing all documentation related to casework and maintaining organized casework files.
  • Responding to requests for research or information from the MPP’s constituents.
  • Preparing, gathering, maintaining and compiling research material as requested by Member to aid in communicating with constituents and organizations in the constituency.
  • Keeping informed in policy areas assigned by Member and liaising with interest groups within the constituency.
  • Monitoring local media to track local issues and ensure a strong media presence for the Member. May include preparing weekly columns, drafting op-eds, standard media releases and arranging stand-up interviews. 
  • May include working with the MPP and caucus communications department to maintain a strong social media presence and managing online social media to increase MPP’s visual identity, and assisting with outreach and engagement to help promote awareness of the MPP in the riding. 
  • May include travel throughout the Riding to perform outreach, casework or attend events on behalf of the Member and other duties as assigned.


Ability to understand and prepare cases and to advocate effectively on behalf of the Member’s constituents.  Ability to meet deadlines, produce accurate work and maintain organized records.  Strong written and oral communication skills.  Familiarity with community resources and services in the London area, and knowledge of Ontario government programs and services.  Excellent computer skills.  Knowledge of the Member’s constituency and key stakeholder groups in the region. Experience in  NDP organizations, the Canadian labour movement, Ontario government, or federal government would be an asset.  Second language skills preferred.  As this will be the primary caseworker, candidates with a Bachelors or Masters in Social Work are encouraged to apply.
