From April 21st to 23rd, New Democrats from across Ontario will convene in Toronto to get inspired and help set a course for victory in the next election. With special guests, engaging speakers, workshops and social events, this weekend is not to be missed.

 

AGENDA HIGHLIGHTS:

Convention 2017 Co-Hosts: Mike Layton and Ausma Malik 

Mike Layton and Ausma Malik are two of Toronto's most dynamic and inspiring leaders. We're thrilled to have them as our Convention co-hosts this year.

 

Keynote Speech: Ontario NDP Leader Andrea Horwath

Andrea Horwath will deliver a keynote address on the challenges people are facing across Ontario, and will announce a bold next step in her plan to do something about it.

 

Special Panel Discussion: “What it means to win” featuring:

  • Joe Ceci, MLA for Calgary-Fort and current Minister of Finance for Alberta

  • Theresa Oswald, Former Cabinet Minister in Manitoba’s NDP Government

 

Keynote Speech: Dr. Danielle Martin

Public health care champion Dr. Danielle Martin, Vice-President of Medical Affairs and Health System Solutions at Women’s College Hospital in Toronto and author of the new book “Better Now: Six Big Ideas to Improve Health Care for All" will inspire us with bold ideas to improve health care in Ontario.

 

Friday Night Leaders’ Social with Andrea Horwath

Andrea Horwath hosts a free reception for delegates on Friday night. This is your chance to mingle and talk politics with activists and our amazing team of NDP MPPs.

 

Policy discussions and release of Vision Document

A winning campaign combines a bold plan for how we make life better for all Ontarians with winning tactics and strategy. You'll want to be here in person as we look at policy, engage on campaign plans, and introduce our new Vision Document, outlining our priorities for the coming election.  

 

Campaign Workshops

During Convention, the ONDP data team is excited to offer delegates a series of training sessions in preparation for next year's election:

 - Intro to Populus

An introduction the new NDP Database, Populus, that will prepare you to use the system in next year’s election and our pre-election campaign.

Friday (9am-11am), Saturday (6:30pm-8:30pm)

 - Campaigning with Data

Get an overview of the many advances in campaigning with new techniques developed by NDP campaigns, as well as platforms used in elections in other countries. Find out how modelling can be used to win elections; and how exciting new tools will change how we campaign as New Democrats.

Friday (5pm-7pm), Sunday (1:30pm-3:30pm)

Scheduled to adjourn Sunday, April 23 at approximately 1pm.
