NDP Leader Andrea Horwath’s statement on first national roundtable on missing and murdered indigenous women and girls

“I want to commend all of the families involved that have continued looking for answers and for justice for their loved ones despite facing their tragedy alone.

“As the leader of Ontario’s New Democrats, I am proud to stand with the families and First Nations communities, in supporting their call for a national public inquiry into murdered and missing Aboriginal women.

“While the Harper government wants to ignore this modern day national tragedy by refusing a national inquiry, time will be on the side of families that will never stop looking for answers for what happened to their daughters, to their mothers, and to their sisters.

“I want those families to know they will always have the support of New Democrats in finding those answers and in making a national public inquiry a reality.”
