NDP Statement on tragedy at First Nickel’s Lockerby Mine

SUDBURY –Ontario NDP Leader Andrea Horwath expressed her condolences today to the families of two First Nickel employees killed at the company’s Lockerby mine, near Sudbury, earlier today.

 

“On behalf of New Democrats, my deepest condolences to the families and friends of two miners who were recently killed at First Nickel’s Lockerby Mine. Today is a grim reminder of the dangers miners face each and every day on the job. My heart goes out to everyone touched by this terrible tragedy.

 

'The mining community has deep roots in the Sudbury area. I know the people of Sudbury will come together to support the families, friends, and coworkers of the two miners killed on the job.

 

'Every miner’s death in Ontario is one too many.”
