In light of new gas plant revelations NDP calls on Wynne to recall legislature

In light of new court documents released yesterday regarding the Liberal government’s cover-up of the $1.1 billion gas plant scandal, NDP House Leader Gilles Bisson calls on Premier Wynne  to immediately recall the Legislature in the New Year and strike up the Standing Committee on Justice Policy so that those involved in this orchestrated cover-up can testify.

Hon. Kathleen Wynne
Premier
Queen's Park

Dear Premier Wynne,

In light of new court documents released yesterday regarding the Liberal government’s cover-up of the $1.1 billion gas plant scandal, I’m calling on you to immediately recall the Legislature in the New Year and strike up the Standing Committee on Justice Policy so that those involved in this orchestrated cover-up can testify.

On October 30, 2014, your Liberal government voted to protect Laura Miller and Peter Faist from coming before the Standing Committee on Justice to testify about their roles in the gas plant scandal and cover-up.  Sadly, Ontarians now know why – the desperate cover-up of the $1.1 billion gas plants scandal continues under your leadership.

Your government blocked Laura Miller and Peter Faist from testifying because you wanted to cover up the fact that Peter Faist was paid $10,000 of public money to use military-grade software to wipe out incriminating evidence from computers in the Premier’s Office; that Senior Liberal staff were deliberately destroying potential evidence of wrongdoing ; that even more Senior Liberals like Dave Gene, Neala Barton and Wendy McCann are implicated; that emails may have been backed up on secret USB drives and might still exist; that senior Liberals took every step possible to get around FOI laws; and that there is more information to be uncovered.

This cover-up started in 2012 when computers began to be wiped and it is continuing today under your watch as the people at the heart of the scandal continue to be protected. This scandal is growing, not shrinking.

As long as this scandal continues to be covered up, it will continue to fester calling into question the integrity and honesty of you and the entire Liberal government.  The people of Ontario deserve to know the truth.

I look forward to a call from your House Leader about the immediate return of the Legislature and strike the Standing Committee on Justice Policy.

 Kind Regards,

Sincerely,
(original signed)

Gilles Bisson,

MPP Timmins - James Bay

Ontario NDP House Leader
