Statement from Ontario NDP Leader Andrea Horwath on the passing of Councillor Rob Ford

It is with sadness that I learned about the passing of Toronto City Councillor Rob Ford. 

My thoughts are with his wife and children, his family, his colleagues and friends, and his constituents during this difficult time. 

Rob brought a persistent determination to everything he did, including his battle against cancer. 

I had the opportunity to meet Councillor Ford a few times when he was Mayor. I was always struck by his wish to improve the lives of regular people in Toronto, although we differed on how best to accomplish that. 

As a father, husband, brother, son and friend, Rob Ford will be missed by his loved ones.
