Sudbury New Democrats unite behind Suzanne Shawbonquit

Sudbury -  Ontario NDP Leader Andrea Horwath was in Sudbury to address a packed room of New Democrats, who came together to nominate Suzanne Shawbonquit as the NDP candidate in Sudbury. Following the open nomination, Horwath congratulated Suzanne Shawbonquit, welcoming her as the NDP Candidate for Sudbury.

'I'm proud to welcome Suzanne Shawbonquit to our team. Sudburians are tired of being treated like second-class citizens, and Suzanne Shawbonquit is going to speak up for Sudbury,' said Horwath. 'Whether it's Sudbury gas prices being out of whack with the rest of Ontario, or promised Ring of Fire jobs that never seem to show up, the Liberals can't keep ignoring Sudbury and expect to be rewarded.'
Suzanne Shawbonquit is an experienced local leader whose experience ranges from serving as the creative director of TEDxNickelCity, to Chair of the Ontario Trillium Foundation, to a successful local business consultant and entrepreneur. Suzanne has deep experience bringing together communities from across Sudbury. She is the mother of two.
'I'm excited to get to work and join a NDP team that's going to speak up for our community. Sudburians are getting hosed at the gas pumps and we have seen broken promise after broken promise about the Ring of Fire; our city has been taken for granted by the Liberals,' said Suzanne Shawbonquit. 'The Liberals have broken too many promises. Let's send them a message.'
'New Democrats have a strong northern team that will fight to make life more affordable for families, to protect and create good northern jobs, and to build a bright future for Sudbury,' said Horwath. 'People in Sudbury have an important choice; they can send a Liberal MPP to Queen's Park who will put Liberal politics ahead of Sudbury, or they can elect Suzanne Shawbonquit who will join a team that will speak up for Sudbury families.'
Horwath reached out to Dave Battaino, John Caruso, and Jesse Gaudet to thank them for their hard work in the open nomination.
