Praise for the NDP Plan that Makes Sense

In a high-energy event today, surrounded by Ontarians of all ages, NDP Leader Andrea Horwath launched her campaign platform, a Plan that Makes Sense.

“People are ready for change, and I believe most people are looking for change that makes sense,” said Horwath. “I’ve heard you, I respect you, and as Premier, I will deliver.”

Horwath’s plan outlined how an NDP government would make life more affordable for families, create jobs, end wasteful spending of Ontario tax dollars, and invest in healthcare and education.

Horwath’s presentation and compelling delivery got strong positive reactions online, while the plan was welcomed by advocates for families, children, students, teachers, and creative industries.

“The plan is good for children, good for families and good for Ontario…The NDP plan ensures no child care cuts for communities, and will improve quality in child care - a huge benefit to children and families. The plan will prevent closures of centres, a smart financial strategy”

-- Ontario Coalition for Better Child Care

'Andrea Horwath's commitment to keeping class sizes smaller, increasing the number of Educational Assistants, and increasing the number of Physical Education teachers will ensure that Ontario's educational system remains one of the best systems in the world'

-- James Ryan, Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association

“We welcome the commitment to the stability of tax credit investments in Ontario's screen-based industry. We are also pleased to see the introduction of the emerging industries fund. Together, these investments enable Ontario to compete internationally and continue to create jobs”

--Sue Milling, Executive Director, ACTRA Toronto, and Board Member, FilmOntario

“NDP plan to halt tuition fee increases welcome.” – Canadian Federation of Students Ontario

“Lots of laughs from crowd to Horwath's jokes. She's engaging the group a lot. Which doesn't always happen, supporters or not #onpoli” -- Katie Franzios ‏@KatieFranzios,  Newstalk 1010

“For students, NDP would freeze tuition and remove the repayment interest from Ontario student loans.” #onpoli #voteon #sl” -- Genevieve Tomney @genevievetomney, CBC
