Statement by Andrea Horwath, Leader of Ontario’s New Democrats, regarding the 2015 Pan American and Parapan American Games

“On behalf of New Democrats I’m thrilled to welcome those travelling from across the Americas, and around the world to the Greater Toronto Area, my community of Hamilton as well as the Niagara Region and Golden Horseshoe during the 17th Pan American Games.

I wish all of the competing athletes good luck. I especially want to congratulate the members of Team Canada, athletes, coaches and trainers alike. I truly admire the sacrifices you’ve made and the spirit and determination you’ve shown to be a part of our national team.  I know that my team and I will be cheering you on alongside your friends, families and communities across the country as you go for the gold. Go Canada Go!

Finally, to the thousands of Pan Am volunteers who are giving up their precious time over the next few weeks -- thank you for your time and dedication to making these games happen.”
