Bring Indigenous Education Programs Back

Restore the Indigenous curriculum writing sessions and Indigenous Culture Fund cut by Ford.

The history of Indigenous Nations, treaties, residential schools, and colonialism must be taught in Ontario schools, in a culturally appropriate, sensitive way.

In 2018 Indigenous curriculum writing sessions to address the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission were abruptly cut by the Ford government. We are calling on the Ford government to apologize for that choice, and to immediately bring together the educators, knowledge-keepers, and residential school survivors in a transparent way to finally begin work on curriculum-writing.

His cancellation in 2018 went against the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action 62 and 63. For far too long, Ontario has failed to back up words with actions. Building a better province for all of us is possible if we work together.
