Accusations of possible illegal activity within the Ford government are chilling, deeply concerning: NDP

QUEEN'S PARK — NDP MPP for Essex Taras Natyshak released the following statement in response to allegations about the Ford government’s conduct made in a letter by Randy Hillier, MPP for Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston:

“Mr. Hillier’s letter – in which he describes being removed from the government’s caucus as a political revenge plot because he tried to blow the whistle – is deeply troubling. This afternoon, I will forward this letter to the Ontario Provincial Police.
In his letter, Mr. Hillier alleges he was kicked out of caucus for raising ‘concerns of possible illegal and unregistered lobbying by close friends and advisors employed by Premier Ford’. These accusations are very serious, and leave the people of Ontario wondering: is this about cash-for-access fundraisers, or is Mr. Hillier alleging a new pay-to-play scheme that allocates access to Mr. Ford’s back rooms?

One thing is for sure: if there is any truth to the allegations that Ford and his administration are exchanging favours, the people of this province have a right to know, and it has to stop.”
