Ford brushes off Conservative nomination arrests: NDP

QUEEN’S PARK – NDP MPP Taras Natyshak released the following statement regarding two arrests that have been made in the investigation into the Conservative Party’s nomination scandals.

“Doug Ford is downplaying and brushing off the serious nature of the Conservative nomination scandals – even after learning of two arrests in the case. Ontario needs a premier that will take allegations of crime and fraud seriously, including when it happens in his own party.

The Conservatives had more than a dozen of their nominations throughout the province tainted by scandal. The people of Ontario have read disturbing news reports describing false identification for the purpose of voter fraud allegedly being cranked out by printers at Conservative Party events. Doug Ford wants us to believe there’s nothing to see here. Two arrests in the case prove otherwise.

On top of that, people continue to wait for answers in the case of the alleged theft of thousands of drivers’ personal information from the 407 ETR database – yet another Conservative scandal.

People voted to end the scandal of the Liberal years – not to go from bad to worse. People deserve a premier who will take this seriously, even if his own party insiders are involved.”
