Statement from NDP Finance Critic on Ed Clark’s nomination as chair of the LCBO's board of directors:

Ontario NDP Finance Critic John Vanthof released the following statement regarding Ed Clark’s nomination as chair of the LCBO's board of directors:

“Kathleen Wynne worked with Ed Clark to make a mess in Hydro, now she's hired him to make a mess of the LCBO on the Liberals' way out.

Clark has long acted as Kathleen Wynne’s personal privatization czar, recommending the sell-off of Hydro One that sent electricity costs soaring. By appointing Clark to the top post at the LCBO, Wynne is sending strong signals that she won’t stop with the sell-off of Hydro One. Ontarians overwhelmingly opposed that short-sighted move, but Wynne went ahead with her plan anyway, and Ontario families are literally paying the price.

Now, Kathleen Wynne is teaming up with Clark to do even more damage, this time to the LCBO. Families have every right to be worried that Premier Wynne is getting ready to put another public asset on the auction block ahead of the June election.

Kathleen Wynne must do the right thing and cancel Clark’s nomination."
