Why won’t Ford come clean on the cost of his trip to New York?

QUEEN’S PARK – Under questioning by the NDP today, Doug Ford refused to say how big his entourage was for this week’s trip to New York City, or what the cost of that trip was.

NDP Deputy Leader John Vanthof said it’s wrong that Doug Ford is refusing to answer, since his travel was on the public dime, and revealing the expense is part of the standard procedure for government.

“As families see services and programs cut by the Ford government, Doug Ford went on an all-expenses-paid trip to New York City but he is refusing to reveal how much it will cost Ontario families,” said Vanthof.

“While Doug Ford was in New York, his government announced that they don’t have enough funds to maintain student breakfasts, or teachers in the classrooms, or even flood management while families are dealing with record flooding in Ontario.

“Doug Ford owes it to the people of this province, who he is forcing to cope with less, to release the costs and details of the trip they paid for. We want to know who went, what they did and how much it cost Ontarians."
