The Cat Lake community has been raising concerns about the state of housing and the harm to residents’ health since 2006. Thirteen years later and nothing has been done.
This housing crisis has caused so many children and elderly residents to be hospitalized that in January 2019, Cat Lake called a state of emergency.
As a signatory to Treaty 9, the Ford government must provide the immediate medical support requested by the Cat Lake First Nation. Ontario has a responsibility to uphold its Treaty obligations.
