The Rockcliffe area located in the floodplain of Black Creek has experienced severe surface and basement flooding for years. The Toronto and Region Conservation Authority has identified the Rockcliffe area as the highest priority flood vulnerable areas in its jurisdiction.

However, industry on the floodplain of Black Creek continues to expand and has increased the risk of flooding in the area, while government reduced management of flooding.

The result: insurers are telling homeowners they may no longer be eligible for coverage.

Families need support now, but also need the government to step up and prevent future flooding.
