Big corporate cannabis shops are taking over neighbourhoods, municipalities should have a say in cannabis licensing.

For many years the NDP has fought for access to legal, recreational cannabis. Big corporate shops are popping up and crowding our main streets. This has left smaller independent sellers at a disadvantage and takes away the diverse range of shops and services that make neighbourhoods great places to live, work, and shop.

    Municipalities have local knowledge and should have a voice in the cannabis licensing process. Marit Stiles's Cannabis License Amendment Act calls on the Ford government to give municipalities a greater say in the licensing process for cannabis retail shops.
