Demand Action in Long-Term Care

Ontario needs a plan of action to address the crisis unfolding in Long-Term Care.

Once again, we are hearing from residents, their families and frontline staff of mass staff shortages, and residents confined to rooms for days, even weeks, at a time.

Ontario needs an urgent staffing plan to deal with this crisis including an immediate raise for personal support workers (PSWs), hazard pay, N95 masks, and a real program for paid sick days.

Add your name to tell Doug Ford to act on the crisis unfolding in Long-Term Care:

COVID-19 only exposed the existing cracks in Ontario’s long-term care system, with chronic staffing shortages and years of underfunding.

As Ontario’s aging population continues to grow, we need to expand and improve home care and make long term care safe, accessible, and equitable for residents, their families, health care workers, and the communities they serve. That's why the Ontario NDP is also calling for:

    • Overhauling home care to help people live at home longer
    • Making all long-term care public and not-for-profit
    • Building small, modern, family-like homes
    • Staffing up with full-time, well-paid, well-trained caregivers
    • Making family caregivers partners
    • Creating culturally responsive, inclusive, and affirming care
    • Clearing the waitlist
    • Guaranteeing new and stronger protections

Our parents, grandparents, and loved ones who built this province deserve so much better. Add your name to demand action in long-term care.
