Essential workers are doing their part in fighting this pandemic by keeping grocery shelves stocked, taking care of our elderly loved ones, and delivering much-needed supplies.

However, under the current Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, essential workers who were exposed to COVID-19 in the course of doing their job have to prove that they contracted COVID through work. Otherwise, they can be denied much-needed compensation.

That’s not fair to the many Ontarians working hard to help us weather the COVID storm. Ontario’s New Democrats demand the Ford government provide presumptive WSIB coverage for all essential workers whose mental and physical health is affected by COVID-19.
