New Democrats are listening to families and providing a plan to make life more affordable

SCARBOROUGH  Andrea Horwath, Leader of Ontario’s New Democrats, sat down with hard-working parents to hear how middle-class families are being squeezed by high electricity and auto insurance rates, and how only the NDP have a plan to help make life more affordable.

“Middle-class Ontarians like the Riaz family and Ms. Sivakuganandan work hard to stretch every dollar, but Ontario families are getting squeezed. Taking the HST off hydro bills and reducing insurance rates are achievable steps that will put money back into the pockets of families,” said Horwath.

An NDP government will take the HST off of hydro bills, saving a typical Ontario family about $120 every year, and will put an end to insurance company delays and implement tight timelines to reduce rates.

“Kathleen Wynne and the Liberals are out of touch with regular families. The Liberals have failed to deliver lower auto insurance rates and decided to add an unfair tax on top of every family’s hydro bill,” said Horwath.

“The NDP is focused on creating good jobs, making life affordable, improving healthcare, and respecting people’s tax dollars. That’s change that makes sense for families.”
