Ford wrong to shut down Queen’s Park during uncertainty of sixth wave: NDP

QUEEN’S PARK – NDP House Leader Peggy Sattler says Doug Ford shouldn’t be shutting down Queen’s Park while Ontarians have concerns during Ontario’s sixth wave of the pandemic just because he wants to duck questions on his big cuts and broken election-time promises, which he’s out there repeating at the eleventh hour.

“Ontario is now in the sixth wave of the pandemic. We need action to fix our dramatically understaffed hospitals, long-term care homes and ensure the safety of our kids,” said Sattler. “It’s wrong of Ford to shut down Queen’s Park just because he wants to duck questions on his big cuts, bad decisions and last minute, election-time promises.

“Ontarians are paying skyrocketing prices for essentials with no end in sight. Workers who can’t afford to stay home when sick need pay sick days. Drivers who are paying the highest prices for gasoline and auto insurance need relief. Renters and young families who are paying more and more of their income on rent, need affordable homes.

"Doug Ford should be focused on answers and solutions for the people of Ontario now, not election sloganeering, and not hiding.”
