Horwath plan will help lowest paid workers and small businesses

TORONTO – Andrea Horwath, Leader of Ontario’s New Democrats laid out her plan to protect good local jobs with a balanced plan to raise the minimum wage to $12 an hour while cutting taxes for small business.

“The same old approach has left too many families falling behind. It’s time for change that makes sense for small business and people feeling squeezed in today’s economy. Our plan helps small business and makes life a little more affordable for Ontario’s lowest paid workers,” said Horwath.

An NDP government will cut the corporate tax rate for small businesses from 4.5% to 3% while increasing the minimum wage to $12 an hour.

“It’s a plan that will deliver results by rewarding real job creators, address inequality in our workforce and help grow the economy,” said Horwath.
