NDP the only option for Guelph to stop Doug Ford

Two Guelph schools, 56 health care jobs at risk

GUELPH – Something special is happening in Guelph, where everyday people are coming together behind NDP leader Andrea Horwath’s change for the better and to stop Doug Ford from being Ontario’s new premier.

Ford refuses to tell Ontarians where the axe will fall in his planned $6 billion in cuts – cuts being made just to pay for a big tax giveaway for the wealthiest six-figure earners. Under Ford’s scheme, most families in Guelph will get just an $18 tax credit in exchange for 56 frontline health care workers being fired, and two schools being shut down.

“Doug Ford’s plan is to give you less care, fewer schools, and insult you with an $18 cheque so that the rich can have billions in tax cuts,” Horwath said. “He’ll bulldoze the Greenbelt, and take Ontario backwards. That’s not change, that’s just going from bad to worse. Ontario can’t afford Ford.”

As the election comes down to the wire, and a two-party race between the Conservatives and the NDP, Guelph families are coming together behind the NDP and the Change for the Better platform, which includes:

  • Ending hallway medicine
  • Fixing seniors care
  • Lowering hydro bills by 30 per cent
  • Creating new opportunities for young people
  • Protecting clean air and fresh water
  • Providing drug and dental coverage for everyone
