Wynne’s re-fried wage announcement held in front of those excluded from minimum wage increase

This morning, Kathleen Wynne gave a minimum wage announcement surrounded by servers at a Mexican restaurant that she is specifically leaving out of the minimum wage increase.

Wynne has targeted servers, and left them out of the $14 minimum wage, which will become $15 under an Andrea Horwath government.

Under Wynne’s plan, employees who serve alcohol at restaurants will not be guaranteed the same $15 minimum wage as other workers. Also shut out of Kathleen Wynne’s Liberal plan are:

  • Students under 18
  • Hunting and fishing guides
  • Homeworkers (employees who do paid work in their own home for an employer)

Andrea Horwath and New Democrats believe minimum means minimum. That’s why all workers will receive a $15-dollar-an-hour minimum wage under an NDP government.
