We’re looking for progressively minded, passionate, and self-driven individuals to become the next generation of organizers to build our local campaign teams and help us work towards an Ontario that includes everyone.

The Campaign Organizer position is for an energetic, organized and results-oriented individual who can work with ridings and candidates to ensure they are ready to contest and win during the next general election. This is an inspiring and exciting role with lots of opportunity to grow and learn. It requires a lot of enthusiasm and readiness to do rewarding (and sometimes hard) work.

Under the supervision of the Provincial Director and Director of Outreach, the Campaign Organizer shall be responsible for working with a broad range of volunteers, members and supporters from across Ontario, with the goal of leading canvassing, donation drives, training, volunteer engagement and recruitment campaigns.

DUTIES

  • Work with other staff to develop strategic outreach plans for ridings and candidates and generate creative ideas for effective, targeted political action and outreach including online to advance the Party’s strategic goals.
  • Work with the organization team to implement and report back on a pre-election work plan to ensure that assigned ridings are election ready by assigned deadline.
  • Maintain regular contact and outreach with local riding association executives to help build capacity.
  • Assist in the development of materials and training for assigned ridings.
  • Engage in riding development including fundraising, training, membership drives, candidate search and nomination processes.
  • Execute and optimize technical elements of engagement programs including email and text message campaigns and management of Call Hub.
  • In cooperation with the digital team, monitor riding association executive social media and provide training on appropriate and effective uses of social media.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Experience organizing through digital spaces including texting programmes, community management on social media, and mass email tools.
  • Knowledge of appropriate key political and community and stakeholder networks.
  • Experience encouraging, motivating, and working well with volunteers.
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines, that involves working with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience in campaign organizing and outreach with the Labour movement, community organizations, the NDP, etc.
  • Access to broad networks including labour and social movements.

SKILLS

  • Knowledge of the policies, practices and structures of the ONDP.
  • Excellent political judgement, demonstrated ability to provide political analysis and strategic advice.
  • Demonstrated technical and creative graphic design skills using Photoshop, Illustrator or a comparable tool.
  • Exceptional written communication skills - and a unique and personal voice.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to multi-task, highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Demonstrated skills documenting program progress and preparing detailed reports.
  • A willingness to travel as required, often on short notice, and a valid driver’s license and car.
  • Experience with training in an adult education setting an asset.
  • Working knowledge of French or fluency in another language an asset.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

This position is compensated as per Appendix IV of the ONDP Collective Agreement. Starting salary is $46,400.00 per annum. The ONDP has an office at 2069 Lakeshore Blvd West.
