Horwath calls for #LoveLockeDay

HAMILTON – Andrea Horwath, MPP for Hamilton Centre and Leader of Ontario's New Democrats, is calling for Hamiltonians to come together and make March 10 #LoveLockeDay to support the businesses on Locke Street – and each other – following a violent vandalism spree.

"Saturday night's senseless vandalism is an attack on us all," said Horwath. "In Hamilton, we support our neighbours, and the damage done to our community makes it even more important that we pull together."

Horwath said #LoveLockeDay is a part of the recovery – showing that the community won’t be intimidated while supporting hard-working local businesses that have been damaged.

"Let's come together to greet each other as neighbours, shop local on Locke, and show these vandals that this attack will only make us stronger," said Horwath.

According to police, on Saturday night a group of about 30 anonymous vandals took to Locke Street, breaking local businesses windows and damaging cars.

Horwath reminds Hamilton residents to call Hamilton Police Service at 905-546-3816 if their property was damaged in Saturday night's attack, if they witnessed the events or if they have any information about suspects.
