The 2025 Ontario Budget misses the mark for Franco-Ontarians

MUSHKEGOWUK – JAMES BAY – The 2025 Ontario budget has once again missed the mark, by turning its back on Franco-Ontarians. By slashing funding for francophone services, the Ford government is making it clear that the needs of Ontario’s French-speaking communities are not a priority. NDP MPP Guy Bourgouin (Mushkegowuk – James Bay), has released the following statement:

"The initial $14 million budget was already insufficient to meet the needs of the Francophone community. Cutting it further to $11 million only reinforces the fact that Francophone affairs are nothing more than an afterthought for the Ford government. These were not cuts to nice-to-haves, these were cuts to essential services such as healthcare, and education provided in french, that are fundamental to Ontario’s identity, inclusivity, and commitment to bilingualism. A true disgrace!"
