Commuters need all-day two-way GO Service now: NDP

Jessica Bell, Ontario NDP Transit critic, released the following statement in response to the Ford government’s announcement about GO Service

"Commuters in Hamilton, Niagara and Kitchener-Waterloo need two-way all-day GO Service now, not at some unspecified time in the future. That’s what would make a real difference to crushing commutes and traffic gridlock, and we did not hear a concrete commitment to timelines today.

People have a right to be worried that Doug Ford’s government will leave them in the lurch. Ford has shown he has no problem ripping up existing transit plans and replacing them with back-of-the-napkin schemes. And you can’t cut transit funding and increase transit service — we’ve already seen a loss of bus routes in commuter communities.

The people of Hamilton, Niagara and Kitchener-Waterloo deserve so much better."
