Conservatives block NDP demand for special hearing on Ontario Science Centre

QUEEN’S PARK – Marit Stiles, Leader of the Ontario NDP, released the following statement after Ford’s Conservatives reject NDP demands for an Ontario Science Centre (OSC) special hearing:

“People across Ontario, especially in Toronto, are demanding to know why Doug Ford and his Minister of Infrastructure made this careless decision to close the Science Centre. A special hearing would have been an opportunity for us to shed some light on that.

Instead, we’re finding locked doors and secret decisions. I don’t blame Ontarians for feeling frustrated. One way or another, we’re going to get to the bottom of this.”

The Ontario NDP are calling for a special hearing in the Committee for Heritage, Infrastructure, and Cultural policy that would compel Minister Surma to appear and finally answer questions about the haphazard OSC closure.
