Doug Ford, the Conservatives, and their bad choices

The Financial Accountability Office’s latest report just shows how misplaced the government’s priorities are.

“When someone shows you who they are, believe them.”

The latest report from the Financial Accountability Office on the government’s spending revealed that the Ford government is withholding $7.2 billion of Ontarians’ money at a time when they need it most.

Instead of investing people’s tax dollars in the services they need – such as hospitals, community services and transit – Ford’s Conservatives are irresponsibly hoarding money and redirecting it to private shareholder pockets.

In a response to the FAO report, Leader Marit Stiles said: “Workers are living paycheck to paycheck across the province right now, and it’s getting impossible for people just to make ends meet. Wages are being held below inflation, and people have less and less to spend on even the bare necessities. Instead of making sure Ontarians’ tax dollars are providing them the services they need, Ford is simply not spending it. He is shirking his responsibility to sustain the strong public programs that people need more than ever. Out of touch is an understatement. It’s completely irresponsible.”
