Ford’s education minister jets to London while Ontario classrooms face cuts

OTTAWA – After Doug Ford’s Minister of Education appeared on stage in London, UK, with Prince Edward, NDP Shadow Minister of Education MPP Chandra Pasma (Ottawa West – Nepean) released the following statement:

“In a time when students are in schools with no pencils, teachers are being fired, and trustees just got told they’re not allowed to have any form of professional development, Ford’s Minister of Education has jetted off on the same taxpayer’s dollars he’s been taking out of our classrooms to London, UK, to be on stage with Prince Edward.

“Doug Ford and his Conservatives have stripped Ontario’s education system down to a bare-bones operation at a time when the Auditor General has called for increased investments in areas like special education and the Financial Accountability Officer has raised concerns about crumbling schools. Right now, students and families need a Minister of Education focused on strengthening and funding our schools. Yet it seems that this Minister is distracted by funding his own political vanity projects instead.”
