GLOVER: Time to put an end to Ford's Billy Bishop scheme

TORONTO — Ontario NDP MPP Chris Glover (Spadina—Fort York) says that Prime Minister Mark Carney’s anonymous email survey on the Billy Bishop Airport expansion isn’t fooling anyone in Toronto:

“We already know that the airport expansion will cost $5 billion, destroy a portion of the Toronto Islands and Little Norway Park, and the waterfront people love by having jets flying over every two and half minutes,” said Glover. “The only one asking for this is the Wall Street bank that stands to profit from each jet that takes off and lands.

“A consultation happens before a decision is made. Ford is already forging ahead with what he says is Carney’s support to expand the airport to allow jets.

“We don’t need a consultation to realize that this is a bad idea. We need the federal government to exercise its authority and responsibility to the people of Toronto and stop Doug Ford’s takeover of the airport and the islands.”
