Hamilton West-Ancaster-Dundas MPP’s statement on anti-Semitic vandalism to Ancaster home

ANCASTER - NDP MPP for Hamilton West-Ancaster-Dundas, Sandy Shaw, released this statement in response to reports that a local home has been repeatedly vandalized with anti-Semitic graffiti, and that on Tuesday, a suspicious fire broke out at the home:

“I am absolutely disgusted that the Kirsch family’s property has been repeatedly vandalized and tagged with anti-Semitic graffiti. I am saddened for Ancaster and Hamilton’s Jewish community.

Hamilton and Ancaster are welcoming places, where expressions of hatred and violence against any person or group based on their religion, racial or ethnic background, or their sexual or gender identity cannot be accepted.

No one should feel unsafe in our city. The Kirsch family and the Jewish community in our region deserve justice and peace of mind. The Ontario NDP is committed to working with the Jewish community, anti-racism advocates and our neighbours to end anti-Semitism in our community."
