Jeff Burch chosen to be the NDP candidate in Niagara Centre

NIAGARA — New Democrats in Niagara Centre have selected incumbent MPP Jeff Burch to be their NDP candidate in the 2022 provincial election. Burch served two terms as a city councillor, is the past CEO of the not-for-profit Niagara Folk Arts, and is a former union leader and representative for frontline health care workers. Since his election to Queen’s Park in 2018, Burch has served as the Official Opposition Municipal Affairs critic.

Quotes

NDP Leader Andrea Horwath
“Folks in the Niagara Region are fortunate to have a fighter like Jeff in their corner — especially now, when people need more help and more hope to put this pandemic behind us. Jeff has been a critical part of our team in championing solutions like more staff in long-term care to support seniors, an immediate pay hike for PSWs, safer schools for our kids and educators, financial help for hard-hit small businesses, and more support for municipalities. With Jeff on our team, in 2022 our NDP government will prioritize setting the stage for good-paying local jobs and improving health care, long-term care and education in Niagara and beyond.”

Jeff Burch, NDP candidate for Niagara Centre
“I’m honoured to accept the nomination to be the NDP candidate in Niagara Centre again, and I thank local New Democrats for their support. It has been disappointing to watch Doug Ford make the same mistakes again and again during the pandemic, and his decision to keep putting money and politics ahead of public health has had a devastating impact on our community. We can bounce back from this, but we must invest in hospitals and schools, and help small businesses and workers — Andrea Horwath is committed to doing all this and more, and I couldn’t be prouder to seek re-election in Niagara Centre as a New Democrat.”
