Kanata–Carleton deserves better than a Conservative lobbyist insider

KANATA – As advance polls open in Kanata–Carleton, voters in the by-election have an important choice: to continue the Ford Conservatives’ track record of paying more for less, or to vote Ontario NDP and elect a health care worker who will stand up for Kanata–Carleton.

Conservative candidate Sean Webster is the ultimate lobbyist insider.

When he wasn’t lobbying for big oil, he lobbied for big pharma, taking part in backroom deals for billionaire Galen Weston’s Shoppers Drug Mart.

Webster even wants to further privatize health care to direct more public dollars out of our hospitals and into private corporate pockets. On Ford’s scheme, which is causing staffing shortages and rolling emergency room closures in Ottawa-area hospitals, he said: “It’s not privatization. I think it’s innovation.”

After years of Conservative chaos, does Kanata–Carleton really need another Ford ‘yes man’?

With just seven seats and no official party status in the Legislature, the leaderless Liberals don’t have the strength or ability to stand up for Kanata–Carleton. And they can’t win in Kanata–Carleton; they came in third in the last two elections.

Only Melissa Coenraad and the Ontario NDP will stand up for Kanata–Carleton. A health care worker who has seen the effects of Ford’s deep cuts first hand, electing her to join Marit Stiles’ strong Ontario NDP Official Opposition Caucus will guarantee an MPP who puts real people’s interests first.
