NDP MPP says Ford government won’t give clear answer on hold-up to Thames Valley school board funding

The NDP MPP for London-Fanshawe, Teresa Armstrong, says the Ford government refuses to give a clear explanation for the hold-up to funding it promised the Thames Valley District School Board. The Conservatives promised the board this money for crucial school repairs and upgrades.

Armstrong said she received a letter from Doug Ford’s minister of Education this week that gave contradictory information about the earmarked funding. “In one breath, Ford’s minister said the funding exists and the projects it was promised for will move forward,” she said Thursday in question period. “In the next, the minister said the board can’t get the money without first meeting new ministry ‘benchmarks.’ The minister wouldn’t provide any explanation as to what these ‘benchmarks’ are.
