OTTAWA – As more parents voice their frustrations with schools trying to make do without enough qualified, permanent teachers, NDP shadow minister for education MPP Chandra Pasma released the following statement:
“Yet again, we continue to see the mismanagement of schools under Minister Calandra,” said Pasma. “Every day, our children are paying the price of Minister Calandra’s political games. It is unacceptable that parents are left worrying about their children’s education because of the lack of qualified, permanent teachers, and children struggle to adapt to someone new every day. Meanwhile, the school supervisors appointed by this government are nowhere to be seen. Parents can’t even reach them to share their concerns.
“Instead of attacking the right of parents and communities to have a say in local schools, Minister Calandra should stick to basics: restoring the more than six billion that his government has cut from education, reducing class sizes, and hiring and retaining qualified teachers for our children.”
