NDP statement on end of labour strife caused by Ford’s education cuts

QUEEN’S PARK — Marit Stiles, Ontario NDP Education critic, released the following statement on the conclusion of central education sector bargaining:

“The Ford government’s attempt to make deep cuts to Ontario’s education system led to the largest education strike in the history of the province, one that was unnecessarily prolonged due to the government’s hostile approach to educators, parents and students, and refusal to back down on class size increases and mandatory e-learning.

“I want to congratulate teachers and education workers on the ratification of their central collective agreements and for their historic efforts to defend our public education system from Doug Ford’s cuts.”
