Reality Check: Highway 7 has never been a priority for Conservatives and Liberals

WATERLOO – Today, Ford’s Conservatives once again left the residents of Kitchener-Waterloo waiting to see if a firm timeline will ever be announced for the badly needed Highway 7 expansion project.

This is a long-delayed, long-overdue expansion for one of the busiest two-lane highways in Ontario.

The project was repeatedly delayed by the Liberals, and immediately halted by the Ford Conservatives when they took office in 2018, who have failed repeatedly to create meaningful progress.

Ford is all too happy to push forward highways that benefit his donors – so why is he dragging his feet on Highway 7, something residents of Kitchener-Waterloo have been advocating for for years?

Waterloo MPP Catherine Fife has been standing alongside KW residents every step of the way, advocating for a firm timeline commitment for this badly needed expansion. But just like her calls for transparency on two-way, all-day GO for KW, it seems the Conservatives have their priorities elsewhere.

Is a real announcement too much to ask for from Ford’s Conservatives?
