Statement by Ontario NDP Leader Andrea Horwath on Remembrance Day

Queen’s Park – On Remembrance Day Canadians wear the poppy to honour all of the brave men and women who have served our country in times of war and in times of peace.

We mark the battles of the past and we reflect upon the conflicts of the present. We remember the sacrifices of veterans who put themselves in harm’s way to defend our rights and freedoms. We remember those who stand on guard today. This year we pay special tribute to the courage and dedication of Corporal Nathan Cirillo and Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent who lost their lives while serving on home soil.
As Canadians strive together to make a lasting peace in the world we must never forget the cost of war.
