Scrapping five-day COVID isolation another Ford cop-out on paid sick days

QUEEN’S PARK — NDP Health critic France Gélinas issued the following statement in response to the Ford government’s announcement it is eliminating the mandatory five-day isolation period for Ontarians who test positive for COVID-19:

“Workers need paid sick days to keep their families, co-workers and communities safe. By scrapping the mandatory five-day isolation period, Doug Ford is once again ducking his responsibility to give workers the adequate paid sick days everyone deserves.

Ford’s measly and temporary three paid sick days are set to expire in March.

The Ontario NDP will keep pushing for the government to give all workers 10 permanent paid sick days, with an additional 14 days during a pandemic.”
