Statement from NDP energy critic MPP Peter Tabuns

Ontario NDP Energy critic MPP Peter Tabuns issued the following statement:

“Doug Ford has no idea how to lower soaring hydro bills that Ontario families are facing -- in fact, if his threats of further privatization include hydro, he'll drive bills and executive salaries ever higher.

Skyrocketing bills and the CEO's outrageous $6 million salary are a direct result of the privatization of Hydro One -- which Ford strongly supports. Firing the CEO will just create a job opening for the next ‘$6 million man in this privatized corporation. Meanwhile, everyday Ontario families will continue to face sky-high bills.

The only way to cut the Hydro One CEO's outrageous salary is to own and control Hydro One again. Andrea Horwath and the NDP will bring Hydro One back into public hands and lower everyone's hydro bills by about 30 per cent.”
