Statement from Ontario NDP Francophone Affairs critic Guy Bourgouin on Franco-Ontarian Day

QUEEN’S PARK - "Franco-Ontarian Day is an opportunity to celebrate over 400 years of French-speaking history in our province and the contributions that francophones have made and continue to make to Ontario. Franco-Ontarians play a vital role in the economic and cultural fabric of our province.

It is also an opportunity to note that we have much more work to do as a province. From modernizing the French Language Services Act, to restoring key offices like the French Language Services Commissioner, New Democrats will continue to push for respect and recognition of the Constitutional rights of Franco-Ontarians.

Today, we commemorate Ontario’s French heritage, and commit to working towards a vibrant future.”
