Statement from Ontario NDP Leader Andrea Horwath on the Passing of Julie Davis

Ontario NDP Leader Andrea Horwath issued the following statement on the passing of Julie Davis:

'New Democrats mourn the passing of our sister Julie Davis. Julie was a passionate believer in social democracy and a legend in the labour movement. She fiercely defended working people across our province and stood as a role model for countless young women and men. Over the course of her long career as an activist, and as a labour leader in CUPE and the OFL, she earned the respect of her friends and colleagues by showing grit, compassion, intelligence and the rare ability to bring people together. We are especially proud of her work as an organizer and as chair of the 1990 election planning committee – an election which the NDP won. We are grateful for her leadership as president of our party. Julie understood that when it comes to politics people must come first. We will miss you Julie.'
