Statement from Taras Natyshak regarding the Ford government’s actions against whistleblowers

Taras Natyshak issued the following statement Monday:

"It's disgusting that the Ford government claims to have taken the draconian action of firing someone they claim is a whistleblower.

This PC Party itself obtained and released government documents when it was the Official Opposition. In fact, after the Conservatives leaked sensitive government budget documents in 2014, Vic Fedeli, who is now Doug Ford’s finance minister, said: ‘This was brought to us. This is the brown envelope. This was not sought out. This was out of frustration of the people… who have been forced to do the bidding for the Liberal Party of Ontario,’ and demanded that the Liberal government not undertake a witch hunt to take down concerned civil servants.

Yet today, the Conservatives say they’ve fired someone. This is a clear case of the Ford government attempting to intimidate public sector workers, the media and the Official Opposition to put a chill on anyone — now, or in the future — that feels morally obligated to blow the whistle.

This government's obsession with attacking anyone who opposes Ford, or Ford's beliefs, is disgusting."
