Statement by NDP Leader Andrea Horwath on Toronto’s municipal election

“On behalf of Ontario New Democrats, I would like to congratulate mayor-elect John Tory, new and returning city councillors and school board trustees. It was a long and grueling campaign, but now the hard work begins.

“It's time for real, progressive change in Toronto: change that will focus on better transit, more childcare spaces, affordable housing, creating new jobs and breaking the cycle of poverty. 

“We want to build up Toronto, not cut valuable services.  Yesterday, Torontonians elected numerous progressive city councillors and school board trustees.  With their hard work and leadership, Toronto will be a more inclusive and vibrant city.”
