Statement from Ontario NDP Leader Andrea Horwath on the Whitby-Oshawa Byelection

Ontario NDP Leader Andrea Horwath issued the following statement.
“On behalf of New Democrats I want to congratulate Lorne Coe on his election as the new MPP for Whitby-Oshawa. While our parties have differing priorities I want to welcome him to the Legislature and look forward to healthy debates on the issues that matter to Ontarians.
“I also want to congratulate and thank Niki Lundquist, our outstanding NDP candidate and all the volunteers who worked hard on this campaign. At door after door we heard from people who told us that they want the sell-off of Hydro One to stop and while this campaign may be over, the fight to stop this short sighted sell-off continues.

As the session is set to return at Queen’s Park New Democrats will continue to stand strong against the sell-off of Hydro One, work hard to protect frontline healthcare services, and continue to fight for a future where all Ontarians can share in the opportunities we create.”
