Stiles: By-elections an opportunity to win more for people in Kanata-Carleton and Scarborough-Guildwood

ETOBICOKE - Ontario NDP Leader Marit Stiles is excited and ready to win more for Ontarians now that the by-elections in Kanata—Carleton and Scarborough—Guildwood have officially been called for Thursday, July 27.

“Life is tougher in Ontario after five years of Doug Ford’s Conservatives,” Ontario NDP Leader Marit Stiles said. “These by-elections are ways to send Doug Ford a message—that Ontarians deserve more. More opportunity, better services, and a fairer economy.”

New Democrats in Kanata—Carleton nominated Melissa Coenraad, a health care hero, Kanata mom, and strong local advocate in March. The Ontario NDP came in second in this Ottawa-area riding in the last two provincial elections, including in 2022 with Coenraad on the ballot. Coenraad and her team have been campaigning since March and have been receiving an excellent reception at the doors.

Building on Olivia Chow’s breakthrough on Monday, voters in Scarborough—Guildwood will have the chance to elect a strong NDP MPP to represent them as part of Ontario’s Official Opposition. Our local nomination process is well underway and we are excited to share more details in the coming days.
