Stiles’ NDP smashes end-of-year fundraising record

Grassroots NDP receives three times more contributions than Crombie’s corporate Liberals

ETOBICOKE – Marit Stiles’ Ontario NDP wrapped up its year-end fundraising campaign by raising more than $1.43 million through more than 22,000 contributions, breaking a year-end fundraising record with online donations up 90% over last year.

Provincial Director Kevin Beaulieu said the fundraising results show that Marit Stiles’ strong leadership is resonating with Ontarians.

“In 2023, Marit led the way to save the Greenbelt, sound the alarm on the healthcare crisis, expose the Conservatives’ corruption, and propose smart solutions to make life easier and more affordable,” he said.

"Marit inspired many donors to give to the Official Opposition for the very first time,” Beaulieu said. “Ontarians know that only New Democrats put them first.”

The NDP’s fundraising strength comes from smaller contributions from many grassroots supporters, while the Conservatives and Liberals rely on the deep pockets of a very wealthy few.

The Conservatives’ return to a cash-for-access system at Queen’s Park has seen their wealthy donors receive favourable government decisions on everything from the Greenbelt to Hwy 413 to vaccination contracts to the privatization of healthcare.

Cut from the same cloth, Crombie’s political ambitions have been bankrolled by land speculators and insiders. Her recent leadership campaign even collected nearly $30,000 from executives at a single development company.

And while the Liberals are fundraising to pay their Leader’s salary, donations made to the New Democrats are going directly towards on-the-ground organizing to defeat the Conservatives and form government in 2026.
