QUEEN’S PARK – Marit Stiles, Leader of the Official Opposition continues to call on the Premier for a plan that keeps people working and stops good jobs from leaving the province due to Donald Trump’s tariffs.
Earlier today, Statistics Canada reported that Ontario’s manufacturing sector is facing the biggest decline in any province across the country and Windsor is seeing a spike in its unemployment rate.
“33,000 jobs lost in Ontario’s manufacturing sector — if this is not a wake-up call for Premier Ford, I don’t know what is,” said Stiles. “What will it take for the Premier to abandon his wait-and-see approach and take real action to keep people working?
“Today’s report needs to be a call-to-action. Stop wasting time, stand up for workers, and stop the jobs from leaving.”
“Thousands of people in Windsor are losing their jobs,” said MPP Lisa Gretzky (Windsor West). “With the growing concern of how they support their families, put food on the table, and a roof over their heads. Where is the urgency from this Premier? We cannot sit by and watch good paying jobs leave because of Trump’s unjustifiable tariffs. We need strong leadership, especially from the Premier.”
